Introduction

You’re receiving this message because your tenant is opted in to the SharePoint Knowledge Agent public preview, which is being refreshed and renamed AI in SharePoint.

As part of this refresh, we’re rolling out new, expanded AI capabilities that help teams plan, build, and evolve SharePoint solutions using natural language—directly in the flow of work.

When this will happen

Public Preview (Production): Rolling out starting March 2026

Who is affected

Microsoft 365 Copilot–licensed users in tenants who have opted-in to public preview.

How this affects your organization

AI in SharePoint now goes beyond answering questions to actively planning and executing work across SharePoint, including expanded, action-oriented capabilities that help teams move from intent to execution using natural language. Users can describe what they want to build and have SharePoint plan and create solutions across sites, pages, lists, and libraries, edit and refine pages directly on the canvas, automatically organize libraries with AI-powered metadata and enrichment, manage lists conversationally including schema changes and updates, and, coming soon, generate consistent, repeatable documents from templates and forms.

Important notice about model usage and admin controls

AI in SharePoint’s refreshed experience uses an Anthropic reasoning model to support advanced, multi-step planning and execution. In some regions, tenant admins may need to allow Anthropic as a sub processor for Microsoft Online Services for these new capabilities to work. Name update

What was previously called Knowledge Agent is now AI in SharePoint. The name has changed, but the experience remains part of your Microsoft 365 Copilot license and continues to be available in context throughout SharePoint.

What you need to do to prepare

If you would like your tenant to experience the AI in SharePoint in public preview, make sure Anthropic is enabled as a sub processor for Microsoft Online services for the tenant in the Microsoft Admin Center.

If you previously opted into the Knowledge Agent (now AI in SharePoint) public preview and Anthropic is enabled, no action is required. New AI in SharePoint capabilities will roll out throughout March.

If you previously opted into the Knowledge Agent (now AI in SharePoint) public preview and do not enable Anthropic, users in your tenant will see the following error indicating that the AI in SharePoint preview isn’t available due to your organization’s AI provider settings:

This preview experience isn't available because of your organization's AI provider settings. Contact your IT department for more info.
