MC1136031: Update for unattended robotic process automation (RPA) scenarios in Windows 365 Enterprise
Windows 365 Enterprise now requires a Microsoft 365 Unattended License for running unattended robotic process automation (RPA) or bot scenarios on Cloud PCs. Each bot instance must have this license, in addition to existing Windows 11/10 Enterprise, Intune, and Entra ID P1 user licenses.
We’re updating our guidance for Windows 365 Enterprise to include licensing requirements for robotic process automation (RPA) and bot scenarios. This functionality is available only for Windows 365 Enterprise.
How will this affect your organization:
While the core requirements for Windows 365 Enterprise remain the same, organizations that plan to run unattended bots or UI-based automation on Windows 365 Enterprise Cloud PCs will now need an additional Microsoft 365 Unattended License.
Windows 365 Enterprise is designed for organizations that want to manage their Cloud PCs with Microsoft Intune and take advantage of integrations with other Microsoft services, including Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Windows 365 Enterprise has no license limit. To use Windows 365 Enterprise, each user must be licensed for Windows 11 Enterprise or Windows 10 Enterprise, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID P1.
What you need to do to prepare:
If your organization uses, or plans to use, unattended RPA or bot workloads on Windows 365 Enterprise Cloud PCs:
- Assign a Microsoft 365 Unattended License to each bot instance.
