MC1134182: Microsoft Teams | External Audio and Camera Device Selection on iPads
Microsoft Teams on iPad now allows muting external audio devices and switching cameras via a long press on the camera icon. These features, rolling out now and enabled by default, enhance meeting control without requiring admin setup. Users should update their Teams app to access them.
We’re introducing two new enhancements to Microsoft Teams on iPad that improve control over audio and video devices:
- Mute external audio devices before or during a meeting
- Switch between available cameras using a long press on the camera icon
These updates help users tailor their meeting setup—whether docked at a desk or working remotely.
When this will happen
These features are rolling out now. Ensure your Teams app on iPad is updated to access them.
How this affects your organization
These enhancements improve the meeting experience for users on iPad by offering greater flexibility and control:
- Audio control: Users can mute external audio devices (e.g., HDMI-connected speakers, headphones, docking station audio) during pre-join or in-meeting.
- Camera selection: Users can long-press the camera icon to choose from all available cameras—iPad front, back, or any connected external camera—both before and during meetings.
These features are on by default and do not require admin configuration.
What you can do to prepare
No admin action is required. To ensure users benefit from these updates:
- Encourage users to update their Teams app on iPad to the latest version.
