Introduction

We’re retiring several smart actions in Teams Chat Copilot and the Add to Group Chat Coachmark. These changes will allow us to focus development efforts on new features that help users catch up on chat content more efficiently.

When this will happen

We will begin rolling out these changes in late August 2025 and expect to complete the rollout by early September 2025.

How this affects your organization

The following smart actions will be removed from Teams Chat Copilot:

  • Summarize what I missed
  • What are the open items?
  • What decisions were made?

In addition, The Add to Group Chat Coachmark, which appears when users are added to a chat with missed content, will be retired.

After these changes, users will no longer see or be able to use these features. There is no impact to other Teams functionality.

What you can do to prepare

No admin action is required. This change will occur automatically.

We recommend notifying your users and updating any internal documentation that references these features.

Compliance considerations
